What the Teacher and Teacher-Librarian Did Prior to Research
- Resources were evaluated to determine which were accessible
to strong, average and weak readers.
- A possible research organizer was prepared.
- The parts of a book useful to researchers were reviewed
with students (Table of Contents, Index - we played an index bingo game
with Nature's Children books, Captions, Pictures, Text, Glossary)
- Some rules for taking jot notes
were introduced and students practiced taking notes about penguins.
- When students were choosing their animal,
attempts were made to match suitable resources to each student.
