ChemSource Project
- Reaction Rates
- Enzymes - Biochemical Catalysts
A series of excellent resources for the high school science chemistry teacher. A video series accompanies the the print resources. Each content module includes:
"Content-in-a-Nutshell, Laboratory Activities, Demonstrations, Common Misconceptions, Humor, Applications and Implications, Analogies, Reference resources, History, and Media"
Chemistry Experiment Simulations, Tutorials and Conceptual Computer Animations
- Effect of temperature on reaction rate.
This simulation illustrates the effect of temperature on reaction rate. The student selects volumes of the four materials: H2O2, H2O, HCl, and KI, and the reaction temperature. Click the "Start" button to begin the simulation. Once the reatants have been combined, click the "Start Timer" button.
As the reaction proceeds, a color change occurs. Note the time it takes for the the color of the new reaction mixture to match that of the control. Record the time to completion under different temperatures.
- Effect of temperature on reaction rate - the iodine clock reaction
Another simulation showing effect of temperature on reaction rate. Again students may select initial volumes of reactants. In this reaction the color change, once it occurs, is instant rather than a gradual color change.

Becker Demos
Quick chemistry demonstrations, developed by Robert Becker of Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, MO. Includes complete description of procedure, safety precautions, questions, and quick-time movies.
Suitable for Chemical Kinetics:
- Captivating Activation - illustrates the conversion between kinetic and potential energy and the concept of activation energy.
Chemistry Case Studies
Case studies of chemical concepts, from Keenesaw State University. Up-to-date, relevant applications of chemistry. A great source for research projects.
Refrigerants for the 21st Century examines alternatives to chloroflurocarbons.
Chemistry Comes Alive
"Chemistry Comes Alive! is a series of CD-ROMs published by the Journal of Chemical Education Software . Chemistry truly does come to life through this collection of pictures, animations, and movies depicting chemical reactions and techniques." Available for order.
Doing Chemistry
A set of lab activities for high school chemistry.
