Planning

Teachers need to think differently when designing learning based on a constructivist framework. A constructivist learning environment is learner-centred and the teacher is a planner, guide and facilitator. Teachers in this project have an understanding of constructivist principles and possess a desire to move away from the traditional instruction approach. They are only beginning to put their knowledge and beliefs into practice. The following guiding questions and templates were developed as a first step to help design, implement and reflect on their practice. To guide your planning, these questions are outlined below.
It is important to remember that building blocks to constructivism should be interchangeable and weaved throughout the process so it is imperative to remain flexible throughout the learning. These plans serve as a beginning point only and are not meant to be prescriptive.
