Content FAQ

Who will use this site?

This site is designed primarily as a resource for teachers. Each lesson is organized according to the objectives for ELA A 10, assessment and evaluation, teaching-learning strategies, before, during, after, language study, and extending and adapting learning.

Is this a complete ELA A 10 course?

No, this is not a course. This site is a resource for teachers. The lessons in this resource are designed with options that you may use to achieve ELA A 10 objectives. In addition, the lessons are modifiable so that you may alter the lessons to meet the needs of your students.

Can my students access the lessons directly as they might with an on-line course?

No, at least not without some major modifications. There are many student-ready handouts; however, the resource is not designed for students to use for independently.

If I teach every lesson in this resource, will I have met all the objectives of the ELA A 10 Curriculum?

You would meet many of the objectives of the curriculum, but you would not meet all of the objectives. Again, this is a resource designed to assist teachers in course planning. First and foremost, teachers must consult the curriculum guide (to access the on-line ELA A 10 Curriculum Guide, return to the main page and click on the ELA A 10 Curriculum Guide link), familiarize themselves with the ELA A 10 Objectives, and plan their units and lessons based on those objectives.

Do I have to teach every lesson in its entirety?

Since this is a resource designed to give teachers choice, first you will identify the objectives that your students need to achieve, and then you will select the lesson activities that help you achieve those objectives. By design, the lessons found in this resource have more activities and tasks than a teacher could use. Therefore, it is imperative that teachers select the appropriate activities to meet the objectives that need to be addressed in their classroom.
