Key Concept

It is important that students learn to accurately self-assess their ability in the classroom using the five strands in English Language Arts.

As students begin working within the five strands of the ELA resources, they should take some time to assess their abilities in these areas. Before, or shortly after, you complete your first activity within each strand, have students complete one of the following self-assessments.

pen The results of these assessments will help the students to recognize their strengths and weaknesses in the areas in which they will be evaluated.

You may choose to take in these self-assessments to determine where you may need to do some re-teaching.
