Attending and Observing a Meeting

Students gain first-hand experience in how meetings are conducted by arranging to attend an organized meeting. Possible organizations to approach include city/town/municipal council, school community council, church council, or other community organizations.

Information to gather at the meeting:

  • Roles of people attending the meeting
  • What went into planning and organizing the meeting
  • How the meeting was announced
  • How the meeting was conducted

Students are to present a summary of this information to the class. It will be useful for them to obtain a copy of the minutes of this meeting, as well as a copy of the agenda for the meeting.
