K-12 schools in Saskatchewan are provided with free access to over 7,000 magazine, journals, newspapers, and reference sources through a variety of online databases. Working collaboratively with the classroom teacher, integrate the use of the databases into resource-based learning opportunities. Teach students the skills necessary to effectively search each database.

InfoTrac (GaleGroup) is a collection of 15 databases containing full text magazines, journals and reference sources. Databases include Kids Infobits, Junior Edition, Student Edition, General Reference Center Gold, CPI.Q (a Canadian database), Discovering Collection (a database of reference books for students), Health & Wellness Resource Center, Health Reference Center Academic, Literature Resource Center, Expanded Academic ASAP, Business Index ASAP, Business & Company Resource Center, and LegalTrac. InfoTrac One File provides an aggregate search of the databases. Check out the Gale homepage for additional information for teachers and students.
- CBCA & Canadian Newsstand (Micromedia ProQuest is a comprehensive full text reference and current events database. Canadian Business & Current Affairs contains four databases--Reference, Current Events, Business & Education. Canadian Newsstand offers full text access to major Canadian daily newspapers including the Regina Leader Post and the Saskatoon Star Phoenix. It also contains Prairie regional daily and weekly newspapers.
- Repère Fulltext provides access to French-language periodicals published since 1980. Publications include all of the major Canadian French language titles in addition to articles published in France, Belgium and Switzerland.
- Canada InfoDesk (Micromedia ProQuest) is a database of directories and the Canadian Almanac.

Accessing a Database |
From a Saskatchewan school, go to the Saskatchewan Learning website. Select the region that your school district is in and the database that you wish to search. |

For home access, go to the Saskatchewan Libraries website. Locate your local library, and select the database that you wish to search. You will be prompted to enter your name, library barcode number, and PIN. |
