2.2 Models & Flats

Set designers often use miniature scaled sets as a model for the production. The model should be scaled according to the stage it is to occupy. The scale should be large enough that small props are able to be made and yet not so large as to make the entire model unmanageable.

In this section you will learn:

Flat

The model should contain the colours and textures of the set, windows and doors as demanded by the script, and props should be constructed and placed in their positions. Use the Set Design Planning Schedule to record information and sketch your ideas.
