3.3 Light Set-up

Lighting needs must be based on the script as well as the location in which the performance will take place. Lighting must be designed and planned before you begin hanging, colouring and focusing lighting instruments. It is also important to have a master hook-up sheet which describes the location of each instrument, which circuit the instrument is plugged in to as well as the dimmer channel which operates the amount of electricity flowing to that instrument.

In this section you will learn:

Scoops On a Stand

The process is the same as in other areas of theatre arts. First understand the script and the equipment you have in your facility. Use this knowledge to design lighting which suits the needs of the production. Hang fixtures in place, colour filter and focus. A technical rehearsal is run after lighting cues are set.
