Once you have your design and your model, you may begin styling. Be sure that your model is ok with you working with their hair! In a pinch, you can also try various hair styles on your own head. Take digital photos of your work, recording each step as you style the hair. These photos can be include in your Theatre Log for future reference and for evaluation purposes. Your instructor may even want photos of the hair style to include in a hair reference for the theatre arts department at your school. Take your time and try doing the style more than once. You will see that with practice you will be able to recreate the style accurately. If you have the time, you may even be able to consult with a local stylist to get some tips or advice on your project. Remember to set the hair with hair spray and pins if necessary. Stage hair must stay put. During performances when there is a costume change, hair must often times be poked back into place. If you find yourself on a make-up team, be ready for actors adjusting and poking at their hair. |
