9.4 The Résumé

What is a résumé? It is a document designed to win an interview with a potential employer. The information included in a résumé is meant to attract attention and show the reader that the applicant is qualified for the job. The successful résumé highlights the skills, education and qualifications of the job-seeker.

Every word in the résumé must have a purpose. In the context of Theatre Arts, you will need to outline the experiences, skills and references which pertain to the work you would be doing in a potential position as a member of a technical crew in a theatre.

Remember that this is your only chance to win an interview and it must look good. There are many formats which display all of your information in an attractive way. Try searching on line for examples or look in your resource centre for material on how to put everything together. Your instructor may also have a specific format that you must follow.
